An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Speciality Doctor in Anaesthetics to join a large, well-established and highly regarded anaesthetic department in Scotland. This role offers exposure to a broad spectrum of surgical specialities, strong teaching and research opportunities, and flexibility to develop subspecialty interests within a supportive environment. The department is one of the largest in the UK, providing comprehensive anaesthetic services across multiple sites and specialities.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver safe and effective anaesthetic care across General Surgery, Orthopaedics & Trauma, Gynaecology & Urology, Paediatrics & Obstetrics
Participate in theatre lists and perioperative care
Manage elective and emergency cases
Maintain accurate clinical documentation
1 in 8 weekend daytime on-call rota
Resident on-call duties covering General anaesthesia and Maternity services
Participation in out-of-hours emergency care
Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
Participate in Clinical audit, Quality improvement, Departmental education programmes
Opportunity to contribute to research initiatives and academic collaborations
Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent qualification
Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
Minimum 1 year NHS experience
At least 4 years postgraduate training (including anaesthesia experience)
Competence in managing ASA 1–3 patients independently
Strong understanding of perioperative care
Nice to have:
FRCA or equivalent qualification
Experience in subspecialties such as Obstetric anaesthesia
Experience in subspecialties such as Paediatric anaesthesia
Experience in subspecialties such as Critical care
Life support certifications (ALS / ATLS / APLS)
