Job Description

You’ll join a collaborative team of eight IT Asset Management (ITAM) specialists who support enterprise technology governance. The team works extensively within ServiceNow and is looking to add a dedicated Software Asset Management (SAM) expert to help advance software compliance, optimization, and licensing strategies across the organization. This role plays a key part in ensuring software compliance, optimizing license spend, and improving the quality and reliability of SAM operations. You’ll partner with technical, financial, and procurement stakeholders and may lead large‑scale projects with significant organizational impact.

Job Responsibility

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Software Asset Management
  • Reconcile licenses for major software publishers using ServiceNow SAM Pro
  • Interpret and break down complex software licensing contracts into actionable reconciliation rules
  • Work with legal and financial data (contracts, POs, invoices) to create entitlement records
  • Troubleshoot software discovery issues involving ServiceNow Discovery/CMDB or alternative discovery tools (e.g., Tanium)
  • Produce manual Effective License Position (ELP) reports when needed
  • Analyze large datasets involving software installations, hardware configurations, and reconciliation outputs
  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, and metrics to measure the performance of SAM activities
  • Document and maintain complex operational processes and best practices
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with cross‑functional teams
  • Solve complex technical problems and help enable peers to work self‑sufficiently
  • Apply foundational knowledge of Hardware Asset Management and Configuration Management
  • Maintain awareness of industry regulations related to software asset management
  • Promote and uphold ITIL best practices (ITIL Foundations a plus)
