An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Speciality Doctor (ST4+) to join the Emergency Medicine team in the South East region. The post is a 10 PA position, with the option for additional sessions under an APA contract, and comes with an individualised job plan tailored to your professional goals. Job Responsibility:
Provide high-quality emergency medical care under consultant supervision, managing a wide range of acute presentations
Participate in the resuscitation and management of critically ill and injured patients, maintaining up-to-date skills in ALS (ATLS, ETC, desirable but not essential)
Contribute to teaching and training programmes for medical staff, Physician Associates, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, and undergraduate medical students
Engage with departmental improvement initiatives, innovation projects, and service development activities to enhance patient care and workflow efficiency
Work collaboratively with colleagues across multidisciplinary teams, including mental health, pre-hospital, and community services
Participate in daily consultant-led ward and CDU rounds, with direct consultant support for self-rostered rotas on weekdays
Attend and contribute to departmental meetings, audits, and clinical governance activities
Support junior staff in clinical decision-making and development
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional standards at all times
Requirements:
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
MREM is essential
Complete GMC registration with a licence to practise
Minimum 1 year of NHS experience
Experience in Emergency Medicine at ST4 level or higher
Competence in managing a wide range of emergency presentations
Evidence of teaching experience or contribution to training programmes
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Excellent organisational and decision-making abilities in high-pressure environments
Commitment to continuous professional development and patient safety
Nice to have:
Completion of ALS (mandatory), with ATLS, ETC certification (desirable)
Interest or experience in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (FAST scanning)
Involvement in departmental innovation, clinical audit, or quality improvement initiatives
