Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Arts Technical Team, supporting students studying visual effects, traditional and digital animation, immersive technologies and games design. You will work with students and staff on the following courses: BA and MA Animation, BA Immersive Media & Mixed Reality, MA Virtual Reality, BA Computer Animation & Visual Effects, MA VFX, MA 3D Computer Animation, BA Games Art, BA and MA Games Design. You will develop workshops & resources and provide professional support, technical expertise, guidance and advice in practical visual effects, green/blue screen use, MoCap, compositing, post-production, virtual production, 3D world and asset design techniques across a wide range of courses within the MIDA (Moving Image and Digital Arts) Programme. Drawing upon your extensive knowledge and experience, you will support student learning in subjects including but not limited to: practical visual effects, ICVFX, green/blue screen set ups, camera & lighting setups; using motion capture equipment and software; working with 2D and 3D compositing and content creation software; and working with VFX, animation, games and XR pipelines, helping them to develop a broad range of increasingly essential technical skills. You will manage some of the MIDA studios and play an integral part in ensuring that students at LCC have access to the fullest range of technical resources, and experience the latest in emerging and digital technologies, and that those resources are being managed & used safely and efficiently.

  • Develop workshops & resources

  • Support student learning in VFX, animation, games and XR pipelines
  • Manage some of the MIDA studios
  • Contribute to technical resources strategy
  • Act as a point of contact for technical support

Requirements:

  • Experience with practical visual effects, ICVFX, green/blue screen set ups, camera & lighting setups
  • Using motion capture equipment and software
  • Working with 2D and 3D compositing and content creation software
  • Working with VFX, animation, games and XR pipelines
  • Proficient in Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Cinema 4D, Shotgun Post, Redshift
  • Good communicator
  • Confident in imparting skills and knowledge
  • Experience supporting customers and stakeholders in a creative environment
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety management related to designated technical areas and studios
  • Excellent knowledge of analogue and digital studio techniques used for animation and related subjects
  • Knowledge of software and hardware maintenance, studio & equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of VFX, XR and emerging technology
