We currently have the opportunity for a full time Specialist Technician – Digital Fabrication within our 3D Make team. As a Specialist Technician you will be working within our 3D Make workshops at our Kings Cross site, assisting students with their work and ensuring safe use of the facilities. You will not only bring key skills with you but will also have the opportunity to develop new skills and experiences. The post holders will work under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator in providing technical support for taught programs and open access workshops. 3D Make is made up of two sets of wood and metal workshops on the ground and first floor as well as a supported open workbench space, general workshop, 3D Make Digital and the Digital Fabrication Bureau which support a wide range of practice, students and courses both at Undergraduate and Postgraduate.
Job Responsibility:
Working within 3D Make workshops at Kings Cross site, assisting students with their work and ensuring safe use of the facilities
Play an integral part of the team, overseeing the day-to-day operation of resources and ensure the daily preparation of facilities and resources is in safe working order in accordance with Health and Safety standards
Provide technical support for taught programs and open access workshops under the guidance of the Technical Coordinator
Requirements:
Experienced designers, artists, makers, and those with craft skills who have developed practice using digital fabrication technologies to fulfill commercial or educational outcomes
Grounded by experience with traditional materials and techniques but open to testing and experimentation within different workflows
Supervising and supporting a wide range of student knowledge and skills using effective communication to guide students, courses and staff through digital fabrication processes and workflows
Key focus on delivering best practice and operations with Health and safety and educational development as a priority
