Job Description:

Join our specialist support worker team! We're seeking experienced and passionate support workers or senior support workers committed to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people. You'll join specialist teams providing high-level support, creating safe environments, and understanding the impact of trauma on young people's behaviors and communication.

Job Responsibility:

  • Dedicate your experience to a child or young person
  • Provide day-to-day support (activities, appointments, family contact)

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children and young people in a residential setting
  • Confidence in de-escalating heightened behaviors and using de-escalation techniques
  • Experience making decisions in challenging situations
  • Understanding of detailed and accurate record-keeping and incident reporting
  • Creativity in engaging and building trust
  • Sound communication and judgment
  • Clarity on protecting personal and professional boundaries
  • Be a consistent part of a team offering dedicated support
  • Provide and maintain availability for the duration of support
  • Take time to read relevant reports, referrals, and profiles
  • Calmness during crisis situations (aggression, self-harm, destructive behaviors)
  • Confidence to make prompt daily decisions
  • Understanding of how trauma, experiences, and diagnoses impact behaviors
  • Non-judgmental approach, keeping an open mind
  • Resilience to continue supporting through stressful situations and trying new ways to engage
  • Observant with heightened awareness to share insights through reports and meetings
  • DBS on update service or support for new application
  • Registered with relevant regulatory body
  • PMVA trained - ideally or willing to undertake training
