Randstad is looking for Specialist Study Skills Support Workers to provide one-to-one support for autistic students at Bangor University. The role began at the start of the new academic year and all successful candidates must be able to travel to the Bangor University and offer both in person and online sessions flexibly to meet student preferences.
Job Responsibility:
Provide one-to-one support for autistic students
Provide learning support and academic guidance
Create an individual learning plan tailored to the student's needs
Encourage students to become independent learners
Support students to develop independence
Support students to build on strengths and learning strategies
Create strategies around organisation and time management
Create action plans to stay on track with studies
Build on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing
Take the needs of individual students into consideration case by case
Ensure any concerns are addressed in a timely manner
Act professionally and maintain confidentiality
Share all relevant information with Randstad
Requirements:
Qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum)
Have a teaching qualification
Have taken extensive training in adult autism (e.g., 6 National Autistic Society Modules or The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education)
Experience of working with autistic clients
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
Punctuality and reliability

Ability to manage a caseload of students
