Job Description

Stationary engineer will perform various preventative maintenance, repairs, and hands-on work within JLL standards and guidelines across commercial properties in Santa Ana, CA. This mobile role involves implementing operations, maintenance, and facilities strategies to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient buildings, building systems, and equipment.

Job Responsibility

  • Applying comprehensive knowledge of safe work practices, especially regarding energized work, working at heights, and confined spaces
  • Recognizing, assessing, and mitigating or eliminating risks in facility operations
  • Using proper PPE for all associated maintenance and repair tasks
  • Evaluating, training, and coaching Engineers and Maintenance Technicians as requested by supervisors
  • Completing repairs and maintenance on commercial building systems (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Vertical Transportation, Life Safety, Roofs, Structure, Parking Lots) using industry standard tools
  • Performing preventative maintenance to keep properties in peak operational condition
  • Servicing diverse areas, including office spaces, warehouse areas, and lab spaces

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of Skilled Trades experience
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • Ability to analyze Commercial or Industrial Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and HVAC systems, determine causes of malfunctions, and implement corrective actions
  • Experience working with ice machines
  • Proficiency with computers and programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Physical ability to bend, sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions during daylight and nighttime hours
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Nice to have

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC

  • Reads meters and gauges or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify operating conditions
  • Records data, such as observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters, and charts which register various aspects of the system’s operation, adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the services provided
  • Adjusts manual controls or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges, switch to backup equipment or systems, or to shut down equipment
  • Visually inspects equipment at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment, or lubrication
  • Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, repacking bearings, replacing packing glands, gaskets, valves, recorders, and gauges, and cleaning or replacing burners or other components, using hand tools and power tools
  • May oil and lubricate equipment
  • May perform water titration tests and pour chemical additives, such as water softener, into treatment tank to prevent scale buildup and to clean boiler lines
  • May record operation and maintenance actions taken during shift in operators’ logbook
  • This engineer may direct and coordinate activities of other workers (not stationary engineers) in performing tasks directly related to operating and maintaining the system or systems
