Job Description:

We're hiring a Full Stack Tech Lead (US–EU time zones) to join our team — a hands-on technical leader who ships production code daily while guiding a team of engineers. As a Full Stack Tech Lead at Alter Domus, you'll be a coding leader who ships production features while mentoring your team. You'll spend the majority of your time building full stack applications. You'll leverage your deep AWS expertise to design scalable, reliable systems. On the leadership side, you'll guide engineers, remove blockers, and foster a culture of technical excellence. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who loves coding but wants to multiply their impact through leadership. You'll lead by example, pairing with teammates, reviewing code, and tackling the most complex technical challenges.

Job Responsibility:

  • Building and maintaining full stack applications with React and Nest.js
  • Designing and implementing APIs, microservices, and microfrontends
  • Architecting solutions using AWS services (RDS, SES, SQS, DynamoDB)
  • Performing code reviews and ensuring code quality standards
  • Making key technical decisions on architecture and tooling
  • Tackling complex technical challenges and unblocking the team
  • Optimizing application performance and scalability
  • Writing and maintaining technical documentation
  • Mentoring and growing a team of full stack engineers
  • Conducting regular 1:1s and supporting career development
  • Participating in hiring and onboarding new engineers
  • Driving engineering best practices and team standards
  • Collaborating with product and design on roadmap priorities
  • Removing blockers and ensuring team delivery
  • Facilitating sprint planning and retrospectives

Requirements:

  • Expert-level TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Strong React experience with modern patterns (hooks, context, state management)
  • Backend development with Nest.js
  • Extensive AWS experience including: RDS and PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, SQS, SES, Lambda, API Gateway
  • SQL proficiency (PostgreSQL)
  • Intermediate experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipeline management
  • Testing frameworks (Playwright, Jest, Cypress)
  • 10+ years experience
  • 2+ years leading or mentoring engineers
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Track record of shipping complex features end-to-end

Nice to have:

  • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation)
  • System design experience at scale
What we offer:
  • Support for professional accreditations such as ACCA and study leave
  • Flexible arrangements, generous holidays, plus an additional day off for your birthday
  • Continuous mentoring along your career progression
  • Active sports, events and social committees across our offices
  • 24/7 support available from our Employee Assistance Program
  • The opportunity to invest in our growth and success through our Employee Share Plan
  • Plus additional local benefits depending on your location
