We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Sleep Nursing Team working as a Specialist Sleep Practitioner. You will be joining a small enthusiastic multidisciplinary team in the assessment, diagnosis and management of sleep disorders in both typically developing children and those with neurodevelopment difficulties. You will need to have a good understanding of child development and child behaviour. Experience of working with children with additional needs and their families in a variety of settings is desirable. Knowledge of sleep is desirable and full training will be given. You will need to be self motivated, flexible, hard working and a quick learner, as well as enjoying being a part of an expanding and developing team. Sheffield Children's NHS FT is a Specialised Paediatric Hospital and a Centre of Excellence, with our services amongst the best in the country. You should have good communication skills and a commitment towards personal and professional development. Full orientation and support will be given to the successful candidate.
Job Responsibility:
Support nursing and multi-disciplinary teams with patient assessment, treatment planning and discharge
Work independently within agreed protocols and guidelines
Carry out developmental assessments in line with treatment plans
Contribute to developing procedures and protocols to enhance service delivery
Requirements:
GCSE A-C/4-5 English and Maths or level 2 equivalent
Demonstrate evidence of maintaining a portfolio for professional development
Experience of working in a child care environment to include undertaking child care development assessments
Experience of a Health Care setting or carer responsibilities
Experience of working with children, young people and their families where sleep is causing difficulties
Experience of working with multidisciplinary teams
Working in a community setting for example early years in nursery schools, clinics etc.
Working knowledge of Microsoft packages i.e. word email
Independently demonstrate effective and adaptable communication skills
Able to use their initiative to overcome complex situations and problems
Able to work independently, understanding their scope of practice
Be able to handle sensitive situations and know when to refer
Committed to undertake self-guided study for example undertaking in-house competencies
