Specialist Secondary School Teaching Assistant - Launch Your Career in SEND! (Redhill Area). Job Responsibility:

  • Curriculum Access: Provide direct, high-quality support to help students engage with complex secondary subjects
  • Strategy Implementation: Assist teachers in executing Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and sensory strategies
  • Behavioural & Social Coaching: Learn and apply sophisticated techniques to support the development of students' social communication and self-regulation skills
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider team

Requirements:

  • A degree-level education (or equivalent relevant professional qualification)
  • A proactive, analytical, and highly resilient attitude, ready to learn on the job
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain focus and professionalism in a complex environment
  • An aspiration to understand and apply specialist knowledge related to Autism and complex needs
  • A candidate who is committed to professional standards and team success

  • Promote Inclusion and Independence: Encourage students to engage fully with their peers and the curriculum, fostering self-esteem, confidence, and crucial independent learning skills
  • Behaviour Management: Utilise positive and proactive strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours, maintaining a safe, purposeful, and nurturing learning environment
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Monitor and accurately record student progress, providing detailed and regular feedback to the SENCo, class teachers, and external agencies (e.g., Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists)
