Permanent and Fixed term (15 hours permanent and 7.5 hours temporary). The post is for 22.5 hours per week until March 2027. From April 2027 onwards, the post will be 15 hours per week. We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Motor Skills Team in Sheffield, delivering high-quality occupational therapy to children with a range of needs within a community setting. Job Responsibility:
Provide specialised, high-quality occupational therapy as a key member of the Motor Skills Team
Carry out advanced assessments for children presenting with a wide range of conditions
Formulate and communicate a clear diagnosis related to motor skill difficulties
Apply highly developed clinical knowledge to design individualised treatment programmes
Independently manage a personal caseload of children with motor coordination difficulties and/or autism, working without direct supervision
Seek guidance, training and support from senior colleagues as needed, while continuing to develop as an autonomous practitioner and undertaking appropriate clinical duties
Requirements:
HCPC registration
Diploma / Degree in Occupational Therapy
Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent, relevant postgraduate courses and in-service training
Portfolio evidence of reflective practice
Variety of general experience and a working knowledge of a broad variety of conditions
18 months - 2 years post-graduate experience
Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Experience of working with school age children with Motor Coordination Difficulties/DCD and Autism
Understanding of the legal responsibilities of the profession
Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for services
Understanding of family / team dynamics and how to develop working relationships with all involved in the child's care
Understanding of the impact of disability on children and their families
Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and health and safety requirements in meeting the needs of the child and family
Competent I.T skills
Ability to present information, written and verbal in a clear and logical manner
Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate appropriately
Ability to keep accurate and legible clinical records
Ability to cope working in a stressful environment and within emotional or challenging situations
Problem solving approach
Ability to communicate effectively and work well within a multi professional team

Membership of the RCOT
Involvement in RCOT special interest groups or local PT/OT Federation sub-groups
Experience of running groups for children with SEND
Involvement in audit, research or service evaluation
