An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our SEQOHS accredited service based at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Barnsley Hospitals Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team is leading innovation in the management of attendance and health and wellbeing at work. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Physiotherapist to join our dynamic, forward-thinking MSK team. This post will provide specialised physiotherapy services for Barnsley Hospital staff with musculoskeletal conditions, and work autonomously to assess, treat, and manage staff referred through Occupational Health. They will collaborate with Occupational Health professionals, HR, Health & Safety, and managers to advise on fitness for work and return-to-work plans. Responsibilities will include conducting workplace assessments to prevent or reduce musculoskeletal risks for staff, patients, and others. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a highly innovative Occupational Health and Wellbeing service, helping to improve staff health, prevent injury and enhance the overall wellbeing of the Barnsley Hospital workforce.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide expert, evidence-based physiotherapy assessment and treatment for Trust employees with musculoskeletal conditions
  • Independently assess, diagnose and treat employees including those with complex MSK presentations and develop individualised treatment and rehabilitation plans
  • Triage and manage referrals, maintaining accurate, up-to-date clinical records and effective communication with the Occupational Health team
  • Interpret and analyse clinical and non-clinical information to provide accurate diagnoses, prognoses, intervention plans and discharge summaries
  • Use advanced clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment techniques grounded in current evidence-based practice
  • Work closely with the Moving and Handling Team to advise managers on workplace adaptations and support safe working practices
  • Motivate, persuade and support patients to achieve rehabilitation goals, overcoming barriers such as language, culture, expectations and anxiety
  • Provide advice, teaching and guidance to relatives, carers and other health professionals to ensure consistent, high-quality care
  • Maintain excellent manual, sensory and palpatory skills and ensure safe use of all physiotherapy and rehabilitation equipment

  • Significant post-graduate clinical experience, with experience in each of the following areas musculoskeletal/orthopaedics, medical/surgical/ITU and neurology
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and training in relevant area
  • Experience of evidence based practice and risk assessment
  • Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC Registration
