Job Description:

The role involves mentoring autistic students at the University of Anglia Ruskin. It requires supporting students on a 1-2-1 basis, helping them achieve academic and personal balance by developing strategies for time management, organisation, and stress management.

Job Responsibility:

Support students in understanding what is required of them academically
Develop time management and organisational skills
Breaking down tasks to meet deadlines
Achieve an appropriate balance in study and daily living
Manage anxiety, stress or low mood
Prepare for new experiences

Requirements:

Qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum)
Extensive training in adult autism
Completion of 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non medical helper package) or The Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education
Adherence to the qualification framework set out by the DfE

Nice to have:

Experience of working with autistic clients
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
Punctuality and reliability
Good organisational skills
Ability to manage a caseload of students
