Reporting to the Director, Mechanical Engineering, in the position of Specialist Mechanical Engineer you will be subject matter expert across the management of Asset Integrity standards and associated governance specifically relating to all lifting and pressure equipment (registered plant) assets across Newmont’s mine site operations to ensure optimization of standards of registered plant assets. This will include analysing and assessing registered plant asset integrity and maturity on critical assets, formulating condition reports and monitoring business partner performance to ensure alignment and support for Newmont’s asset integrity initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and optimize of standards, risk profiles, critical controls and integrity assurance programs that include a governance framework to properly manage the risk and cost associated with the integrity of Newmont’s mechanical assets and associated systems
Analyse comprehensive reviews and audits of the mechanical integrity of relevant equipment, adhering to standards and optimal performance
Evaluate the maturity of mechanical systems and processes and identify areas for enhancement and improvement
Formulate detailed reports based on integrity and maturity assessments and include actionable recommendations for improvements
Coordinate, execute and close out actions identified during audits and reviews and ensure improvements are executed effectively in collaboration with site-based teams
Monitor and assess the performance of partners involved in the maintenance and support of stationary mechanical systems and ensure compliance with quality and contractual standards
Support, guide and facilitate timely and effective close out of all action items from integrity and maturity assessments
Provide direct subject matter expert input and support to site led failure and incident investigations relating to mechanical systems and deliver technical guidance and solutions to address critical risks
Facilitate investigation into significant mechanical failures and incidents, diagnose root causes and formulate corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Facilitate and streamline continuous improvement programs aimed at enhancing the reliability, efficiency and performance of lifting, pressure equipment and other mechanical systems
Sustain collaborative relationships with site-based teams and key stakeholders to facilitate alignment and support for mechanical integrity initiatives
Requirements:
University degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering
Chartered Professional Engineer accredited by Engineers Australia and current member will be well regarded
A minimum of five years' experience in mechanical engineering specific to registered plant used in the mining industry, essentially lifting and pressure equipment
Knowledge and understanding of international standards relating to lifting and pressure equipment
Experience in monitoring and improving mechanical engineering standards, risk management and compliance
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and SAP will be well regarded
Nice to have:
Chartered Professional Engineer accredited by Engineers Australia and current member will be well regarded
