Reporting to the Director, Mechanical Engineering, in the position of Specialist Mechanical Engineer you will be a subject matter expert for the management of Asset Integrity standards and associated governance specifically relating to all underground equipment across Newmont’s mine site operations to ensure optimization of standards of assets. This will include analysing and assessing underground equipment integrity and maturity on critical assets, formulating condition reports and monitoring business partner performance to ensure alignment and support for Newmont’s asset integrity initiatives.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and optimize standards, risk profiles, critical controls and integrity assurance programs
Analyse comprehensive reviews and audits of the mechanical integrity of relevant equipment
Evaluate the maturity of mechanical systems and processes
Formulate detailed reports based on integrity and maturity assessments
Coordinate, execute and close out actions identified during audits and reviews
Monitor and assess the performance of partners involved in maintenance and support
Support, guide and facilitate close out of action items from assessments
Provide subject matter expert input to site led failure and incident investigations
Facilitate investigation into significant mechanical failures and incidents
Facilitate continuous improvement programs
Sustain collaborative relationships with site-based teams and key stakeholders
Requirements:
University degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering with post-graduate qualifications well regarded
Chartered Professional Engineer accredited by Engineers Australia and current member will be well regarded
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical engineering specific to large scale hard rock mine operations essentially in underground equipment
Experience in monitoring and improving mechanical engineering standards, risk management and compliance
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and SAP well regarded.
