Provide specialized legal counsel for a BU focusing on 1-2 specialized areas: litigation, legal commercial, sustainability or employment, under the guidance of a Director/Principal, Legal.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide specialized legal counsel for a BU focusing on 1-2 specialized areas: litigation, legal commercial, sustainability or employment, under the guidance of a Director/Principal, Legal
  • Advise executives and management on legal matters, including governance, regulatory compliance, commercial, land, employment, litigation, and sustainability
  • Handle complex legal matters under the guidance of the Director, Legal and Head of Legal, providing practical, risk-based solutions
  • Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory developments and trends relevant to the country and business operations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements, including EPCM arrangements, major projects, strategic transactions, and joint ventures
  • Support dispute avoidance and resolution, including litigation strategy, negotiations, and coordination with external counsel
  • Provide legal support on sustainability and environmental matters, including permitting, compliance, investigations, reclamation projects, and community agreements
  • Advise on employment, labor relations, and workplace health and safety matters, including policies, investigations, disputes, and collective bargaining agreements
  • Ensure compliance with local laws such as competition, construction, intellectual property, employment, and environmental regulations
  • Develop legal documentation, standard templates, negotiation guidelines, and deliver legal training to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate legal records and registries to support audits, regulatory responses, and corporate reporting

Requirements:

  • Law degree and license to practice in the relevant jurisdiction(s)
  • Strong experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Strong understanding of a broad range of legal issues, laws, and regulations
  • Experience in mining or construction
  • experience in a multinational environment is a plus
  • Proven experience drafting and reviewing commercial contracts
  • Solid understanding of mining-related laws, legal trends, and legislative developments
  • Specialized legal knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Sustainability, Commercial, Employment, and Litigation
  • Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken
  • Ability to apply independent judgment and specialized legal expertise to complex matters
  • Strong ability to collaborate and partner with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability to identify and mitigate legal risks
  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills

Nice to have:

Experience in a multinational environment is a plus
