We are building a dedicated Navigation & PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) team to redefine how Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) navigate in contested and complex environments. This is a foundational hire for a new capability group, focusing on the development of resilient, high-integrity navigation technologies. We are looking for subject matter experts who can drive innovation in one or more of our core pillars: GNSS Resilience, Navigation Fusion, or Alternative PNT. Whether you are a deep specialist in Kalman filtering or an expert in novel RF positioning, your expertise will ensure our platforms remain operational when traditional systems fail.
Job Responsibility:
Algorithm Development: Design, simulate, and implement advanced navigation algorithms tailored for UAS flight profiles
Architecture Design: Define the PNT architecture for our platforms, ensuring modularity and growth potential for "Plug and Play" sensor integration
Resilience Testing: Evaluate system performance in GNSS-denied or degraded environments through rigorous simulation and flight test analysis
Technical Leadership: (For Lead candidates) Act as the technical authority for PNT within the program, guiding the roadmap for sovereign navigation capability
Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL): Support the integration of navigation software with flight control hardware and high-grade Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs)
Requirements:
Degree in Aerospace, Robotics, Control Systems, or Electrical Engineering with a focus on PNT/Navigation
Demonstrated experience in developing navigation solutions for autonomous platforms (UAS, Missiles, or Robotics)
High proficiency in modelling and simulation tools for algorithm development and data analysis
Familiarity with coordinate systems (ECEF, NED), inertial sensor error modelling, and stochastic processes
Eligible for UK SC Clearance
A passion for solving the "GNSS-denied" challenge using novel, non-traditional methods
Ability to perform complex error-budget analysis and understand the nuances of sensor drift and uncertainty
Able to work closely with Flight Control and Mission Systems engineers to ensure a cohesive systems level design
What we offer:
An excellent work environment and an opportunity to make a difference
Salary Compatible with the level of proven experience
