Specialist in Neurology & Stroke Medicine

• Patient assessment both in clinic and when reviewing ward-referrals
• Drug prescription in clinic, for ward patients
• Undertake patient reviews for other in-patient teams
• Trouble shoot patients on the ward
• Participate in ward rounds with the Consultants
• Ward rounds on the Acute Stroke ward
• Front door assessment of acute stroke patients including thrombolysis
• Liaise with patient families to discuss the patients progress, goals and achievable outcomes
• Provide information to patients and family in a way that they can understand
• Co-ordinate with nursing and ward staff
• Maintain an open and honest dialogue with the Pharmacist, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists
• You will be expected to attend departmental meetings
• You will be expected to attend weekly radiology meetings to discuss difficult cases

• Fully registered with the GMC
• MB, BS or equivalent
• Basic Life Support
• Completed MRCP
• Evidence of safe, sound clinical practices
• Must have relevant post graduate clinical experience, and they must demonstrate significant experience at a senior level in Neurology
• Experience of audit and management
• Evidence of management/leadership skills training
• Publications in peer reviewed journals

• Evidence of continuing professional updating
• Advanced Life Support
• Awards/distinctions whilst studying for 1st or 2nd degree
