Job Description:

Role Purpose: We are recruiting for a Specialist Housing Officer to deliver an enhanced tenancy and estate management service, focused on improving the quality of life for older and vulnerable residents. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with residents and key partners to provide a responsive, supportive, and high-quality housing service.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver a comprehensive enhanced housing management service, supporting residents to sustain their tenancies
  • Work within a specialist team focused on older and vulnerable customers, driving continuous service improvement
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with council policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines
  • Conduct regular inspections of sheltered housing schemes, ensuring communal areas are safe, clean, and well maintained
  • Ensure resident needs are considered in planned maintenance programmes
  • Report and monitor household repairs, particularly supporting residents who may need additional assistance
  • Coordinate and deploy support services such as a handyperson service to provide tailored, accessible solutions
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, and external partners to deliver joined-up services

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of enhanced housing management and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Experience working as a Sheltered Housing Officer within a local authority or housing association
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven experience in a customer-facing role, supporting older and vulnerable residents
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS (essential)
