Job Description:

Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Hazardous Waste Specialist to support a government contract based in Jacksonville, Florida at Mayport.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepares, maintains, and implements operating procedures for environmental risk management
  • Maintains compliance receiving, classifying, and processing Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Waste
  • Maintains 90-day Facility
  • Inspects operations and facilities
  • Records all EPA/OPSHA violations
  • Conducts investigations, if necessary
  • Determines and implements actions needed to comply with regulations and ISO14001 standards
  • Processes Waste: Identifies classifies, over-packs and prepares waste for pick-up and transportation
  • Verifies manifest, properly marks assets for shipping, inspects commercial vehicle and verifies driver’s credentials and safety equipment
  • Identifies, collects, transports, processes, packages and prepares hazardous materials and hazardous waste for storage and disposal in accordance with regulatory and contract requirements
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of all Hazardous and Non-Hazardous material stored in the 90 Day site
  • Conducts satellite area accumulation inspections including but not limited to AUL, recycling, 90 Day Facility, hazardous materials storage facility and hazardous material production facilities
  • Processes all documentation such as, but not limited to
  • waste turn-in sheet, labeling, 1348 DRMO document including resubmit after lab results are received
  • Submits for pickup and transportation of all Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste
  • Maintain totes: Pumps recyclable oil/transmission fluid/hydraulic fluids and other petroleum-based products
  • Maintains a current accurate count of Anti-Freeze and Fuel totes
  • First Responder: Responds, evaluates and clean up all Hazardous and Non-Hazardous spills
  • Cleans all leaks and spills aboard the facility
  • Maintains appropriate materials to handle any spill contingency
  • Prepares, maintains and submits applicable spill reports
  • Performs other duties as requested
  • Required to be “On Call for all hours outside standard hours when maintenance shops are on overtime and during loading and back loading of materials
  • Operates vehicles such as but not limited to Flatbeds, pickups and forklifts

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year direct spill response
  • three (3) years directly related experience in hazardous and non-hazardous waste management activities is desired
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location
  • Computer literate
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • current 40-Hour HAZWOPPER DOT Hazmat Security Training
