The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for the operational aspects of programs associated with environmental health and safety compliance and will promote the principles of EH&S in support of the University's mission of providing high-quality instruction, scholarship, and service with excellence.
Job Responsibility
Assist in the day-to-day EHS departmental operations regarding compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and standards
Develop programs and policies to facilitate compliance with all applicable laws and recommended standards and train our community on such programs and policies
Maintain Federal/State/Local Reports, Manage Hazardous Waste, and Respond to Emergencies
Supports the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in environmental health science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Loss Prevention and Safety, or other field of study in a related field is required
At least one year of related experience is required
Preferably in a Public Safety, emergency management, and/or environmental health and safety, or their equivalents
Experience in the University environment is strongly preferred
The candidate will also possess strong oral and written communication skills
