Job Description

This role is for a Specialist Carer to join Noah's Ark Children's Hospice, providing holistic paediatric palliative care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families. The role involves working at The Ark in Barnet or in the community, focusing on the individual child's needs and enabling them to live life beyond their condition.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide life-changing care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions
  • Work in collaboration with family, multidisciplinary teams and colleagues
  • Put the experience of children and families at the heart of all you do
  • Focus on what children can do, rather than their limitations
  • Support children to experience things they may never have thought possible
  • Provide care at The Ark or in the community, allowing parents and carers time for themselves
  • Be a senior carer, supporting and training junior colleagues
  • Actively lead care planning reviews, projects and meetings
  • Provide end-of-life care, being a guiding reassuring presence for families
  • Work with other healthcare professionals to create comfort

Requirements

  • Experience caring for babies, children and young people with complex health needs
  • Competent in a range of complex nursing skills
  • Understanding of the power of play and enjoy creating experiences and activities
  • Share core values of kindness, excellence, and courage
  • Thrive working autonomously, confident in ability to deliver care alone in the community
  • Know the value of collaboration
  • Creativity and play central to approach to care
  • Ability to build long-term relationships
  • Understand and adhere to policies and procedures
  • Competency in clinical skills, working under delegation of a registered children’s nurse
  • Available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends
  • Full UK driving license and access to own car
