Job Responsibility:
Perform complex and advanced design and machining in support of the Global Automation Team utilizing appropriate technology and machining methods
Under general or minimal supervision, provide design services including modeling and preparation of detailed drawings, from general instruction and/or preliminary sketches, diagrams and schematics
Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documentation to verify adherence to standard practices and design for manufacturability
Responsible for efficient manufacture of simple and complex machined parts from raw material using CNC vertical milling and turning operations with high accuracy
Able to create toolpaths using conversational CAM controllers or CAM software
Responsible for rapid modification of existing parts to correct errors, iterate design or provide improvements on time critical components
Ability to assist with mechanical assembly of automation machine builds as needed and help troubleshoot mechanical systems
Adheres to all environmental, health and safety SOPs, equipment, policies and procedures
Communicate effectively on a technical level with management, engineering, plant personnel and outside technical resource and support services
Requirements:
High School or GED diploma required
Completion of a technical apprenticeship or diploma, or 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience, preferably in automation
Perform work with minimum supervision and can prioritize tasks
Must have good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Interpret engineering concepts and design requirements
Utilize 3D CAD software to create mechanical designs and engineering drawings, preferably SolidWorks
Knowledge in the safe operation and use of industrial machining equipment including vertical milling machines and lathes
Experienced with shop floor fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, shears, breaks, drill presses and finishing equipment
Solid math aptitude including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions is required
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently
Able to work from heights up to 10 ft. and in limited spaces within equipment to install and service systems
Work while wearing proper PPE and/or donning cleanroom clothing in medical manufacturing environments
Ability to exercise independent judgment and draw accurate conclusions based on available information
Availability to travel to plant locations, both foreign and domestic, to support installation or service automation equipment
Must be able to travel as part of a team or independently if required
