Be part of transforming ADHD care. Are you a GP with a passion for ADHD and neurodiversity? Do you want the time, support, and clinical freedom to deliver genuinely lifechanging care? We are seeking a Specialist ADHD GP with a clinical interest in neuro developmental conditions to join our established, NHS aligned service delivering care via the Right to Choose (RTC) pathway. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high quality ADHD assessment and management for patients accessing care through NHS referral, in line with NICE guidance and NHS clinical governance standards. What this role offers: This is an opportunity to: Deliver specialist care within a fully NHS aligned Right to Choose service; Focus on clinical quality rather than appointment volume; Make a meaningful contribution to improving access to ADHD assessment and support nationally. Previous experience in ADHD services is desirable but not essential; training and supervision can be supported.

Job Responsibility:

  • Undertake ADHD assessments and reviews via the NHS Right to Choose pathway
  • Contribute to diagnosis and shared decision making in accordance with NICE NG87
  • Support medication initiation and monitoring where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Maintain high quality clinical documentation and governance standards
  • Liaise with NHS GP practices, schools, and other professionals as required
  • Formulate and document diagnoses, differential diagnoses, and management plans
  • Complete high-quality assessment reports within agreed turnaround times
  • Initiate and review ADHD treatment plans, including shared care recommendations
  • Participate in clinical supervision, peer review and service development
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical records using agreed clinical systems
  • Adhere to safeguarding, information governance and clinical governance standards
  • Support service quality, consistency, and patient experience across the ADHD pathway
  • Promote a culture of service user empowerment and valuing in design of
  • Provide medical management, including prescribing and monitoring ADHD medications in line with national guidance

Requirements:

  • GMC registered with a licence to practise
  • GP with an interest or experience in ADHD and neuro developmental care
  • Comfortable working within NHS structures and referral pathways, including RTC
  • Familiar with (or keen to work in line with) NICE guidance
  • Patient focused, methodical, and confident managing clinical complexity
  • Professional qualification in a relevant clinical discipline (e.g., GMC, RMN, Clinical Psychologist)
  • Registration with appropriate professional body (e.g., GMC, NMC, HCPC)
  • Experience working with adults with neurodevelopmental conditions, particularly ADHD
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience in ADHD services
  • Training in ADHD-specific assessment tools (e.g., DIVA-5, ASRS, QBTest)
  • Prescribing qualification (for nurse prescribers or non-medical prescribers)
