We are looking for a Special Projects Coordinator to support retail project execution for a Contract position based in Chesapeake, Virginia. This role will help organize and drive a range of store improvement initiatives across a large retail environment, partnering closely with internal leaders, field teams, and external vendors. The ideal candidate brings strong scheduling, tracking, and communication skills, along with the ability to keep multiple construction-related projects moving efficiently from planning through completion.
Job Responsibility
Oversee assigned store project activities independently, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and follow-up actions remain on track
Coordinate a variety of retail improvement initiatives such as décor updates, checkout modifications, fixture installations or replacements, vestibule work, remodel efforts, flooring upgrades, and refrigeration-related projects
Prepare and distribute construction communications to vendors and field partners so project expectations, schedules, and updates are clearly understood
Work with project leadership to address issues involving store readiness, vendor timing, material availability, and installation challenges
Escalate concerns related to materials, vendor performance, or project execution to the appropriate managers and leadership team
Partner with Special Projects leaders to identify material needs and place project-related orders with approved vendors using company purchasing systems
Track project milestones and maintain accurate status reporting to support timely decision-making and project visibility
Support cross-functional coordination between store development, project managers, vendors, and field operations to help ensure successful project delivery
Requirements
3+ years of experience in project coordination, project support, or construction-related administration
Background in managing timelines, tracking progress, and coordinating multiple projects at once
Experience supporting construction, retail rollout, remodel, or store development initiatives
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules, documentation, and project details accurately
Clear and detail-focused communication skills for working with vendors, field teams, and internal stakeholders
Proficiency in project tracking, scanning, and maintaining project records in business systems
Ability to identify problems quickly and help drive practical solutions related to scheduling, materials, or installation work
