We are seeking an accomplished Bilingual Special Projects Lead (Complex Claims and Remittance Strategy) to lead a high-profile, multi-year disbursement initiative. This role is the architectural lead for resolving complex claim issues and ensuring the financial integrity of a major settlement. You will be responsible for navigating ambiguity to build a "fair and equitable" framework for fund distribution, balancing immediate payouts with long-term reserves. This is a mission-critical position for a veteran problem-solver who excels at cross-functional leadership, financial oversight, and driving process improvements across multiple complex workstreams.
Job Responsibility:
Project Governance: Lead and manage high-priority, issue-driven projects related to claims processing, fund accounting, and complex payments
Process Optimization: Analyze current-state processes to develop and implement recommendations that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
Financial Integrity: Oversee the disbursement strategy, ensuring proper accounting for payouts while maintaining necessary financial reserves
Stakeholder Management: Present findings, project updates, and strategic solutions to senior leadership and external partners
Framework Development: Build project timelines and governance structures to ensure the delivery of high-quality, legally defensible outcomes
Requirements:
15+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or advisory services
University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent designation is a strong asset)
Proven track record managing large-scale, high-risk special projects across cross-functional teams
Significant experience with ERPs (SAP, Salesforce, or Oracle) and advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel and PowerBI
Full professional fluency in both English and French is required
A strong understanding of Indigenous matters and the ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments
