Job Description:

Special Police Officer position at Davie Medical Center in Bermuda Run, NC. Full-time role with a $5,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants. Position involves maintaining safety, intervening in threats, apprehending individuals, investigating criminal activity, responding to calls, and preparing cases for court.

Job Responsibility:

  • Appropriately and effectively intervenes when unruly, abusive, combative, threatening, or armed persons are encountered
  • Apprehend and arrest individuals for criminal activity
  • Complete investigations of any criminal activity occurring within assigned jurisdiction, make arrests, and process criminal defendants as per NC criminal proceedings
  • Respond to routine and emergency calls for assistance
  • Complete uniform incident reports and other assigned documentation
  • Communicate in a calm, factual, objective, and courteous manner with all persons with whom communication or collaboration are necessary
  • Coordinates and communicates with community police agencies as appropriate
  • Provide armed response to any imminent situation that threatens the life or safety of anyone on Atrium Health property
  • Assist teammates with and serve as subject matter expert in criminal process
  • Prepare criminal cases for court proceedings, attend court, and testify in criminal proceedings

  • General law enforcement certification per North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards or ability to transfer certification from another jurisdiction
