Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Learning Assistant to join our specialist SEN school in Cranleigh. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with special educational needs. As a Learning Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that enables every pupil to thrive.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support, care and teaching to autistic adult learners
  • Plan, prepare and deliver activities supporting the development of knowledge and skills
  • Provide behaviourally based support to reduce behaviours that impact quality of life
  • Provide personal care, encouraging and enabling adult learners to maintain acceptable levels of hygiene, including toileting, dressing and washing
  • Support adult learners participation in social, leisure and educational activities within the local community, applying theory-based learning to practice
  • Support adult learners to access work experience and employment opportunities
  • Track adult learners progress, ensuring support, care and teaching is appropriate and effective

Requirements:

  • Is patient, empathetic, and committed to inclusive education
  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable)
  • Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team
  • Is resilient, flexible, and eager to learn
