Job Description:

Special Needs Class Teacher – September Start (Permanent, Pay to Scale) Fulltime. Are you a passionate and resilient teacher looking to make a real difference? We are seeking a Special Needs Class Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive team, working with children who require a highly tailored, therapeutic approach to learning.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching to small groups of children (typically 3–7 pupils)
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet a wide range of special educational needs, including SEMH and ASC
  • Create a safe, structured, and therapeutic classroom environment that promotes emotional and academic progress
  • Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants and wider professionals
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress in line with statutory requirements
  • Contribute to a creative, child-centred curriculum that supports curiosity and development

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching children with additional needs, particularly SEMH and/or autism
  • Strong classroom management skills with a calm, consistent approach
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with hard-to-reach children
  • A reflective, resilient, and adaptable teaching style
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child-centred practice
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
