To provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 8 student currently based in the school’s Nurture provision. The student primarily accesses lessons within the nurture classroom rather than moving between subject rooms with the rest of the cohort. The role involves supporting the student’s learning, emotional regulation, and wellbeing, helping her remain engaged in education while building confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
Job Responsibility:
Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day within the Nurture classroom
Help the student remain focused on learning tasks and access the curriculum at an appropriate level
Offer reassurance, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to support engagement and motivation
Support the student in recognising and celebrating her successes to help build confidence and self-esteem
Requirements:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly those with anxiety or emotional regulation needs
Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
Ability to build trusting relationships with young people
Strong communication and listening skills
Ability to recognise and respond to signs of emotional distress
Nice to have:
Experience working within a Nurture provision or similar setting
Understanding of trauma-informed or nurture-based approaches
Experience using Thrive or similar emotional wellbeing programmes
Creative approach to engagement through play, art, and practical activities
