Do you believe that every child, regardless of their starting point, deserves an elite education? Are you looking for a role where your expertise in SEND will be treated as a cornerstone of the school's success? Are you a visionary leader who can see the potential hidden behind a barrier to learning? About the Role This is a Full-Time Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) position designed for a strategic thinker and a passionate advocate. The successful candidate will be the architect of the school's SEND provision, ensuring that the curriculum is accessible and that every student is empowered to succeed. This role isn't just about paperwork; it's about presence-being a visible leader for staff, a trusted partner for parents, and a champion for the boys. About the School Located in the heart of Bradford, this is a leading secondary school for boys that prides itself on a culture of high expectations and deep-rooted values. The school fosters an environment where values meet modern academic rigour. It is a place of belonging, where character development is as vital as exam results, and where the staff work as a unified family to lift the aspirations of the local community.

Job Responsibility:

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of the school's SEND policy to raise achievement
  • EHCP Management: Oversee the application and annual review process for all Education, Health and Care Plans
  • Staff Mentorship: Provide high-quality professional development and "quality first teaching" strategies to classroom teachers
  • Data Analysis: Rigorously track the progress of students with SEND, identifying gaps and implementing rapid interventions
  • Agency Liaison: Coordinate with external professionals, including educational psychologists, speech therapists, and health services
  • Parental Partnership: Serve as the primary point of contact for families, ensuring transparent and supportive communication
  • Resource Allocation: Manage the SEND budget and deploy Teaching Assistants effectively to maximise student impact
  • Compliance: Ensure the school meets all statutory requirements under the SEND Code of Practice
  • Transition Planning: Lead the smooth transition of SEND students from Primary school and into Post-16 pathways
  • Inclusive Culture: Promote a whole-school ethos where inclusion is everyone's responsibility

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Proven Experience working as a SENCO or Assistant SENCO in a secondary setting
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Expert Knowledge: Deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Communication: Ability to convey complex information clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Empathy: A high degree of emotional intelligence when dealing with sensitive student needs
  • Organisation: Mastery of administrative tasks and strict statutory deadlines
  • Leadership: The ability to influence and motivate staff at all levels of seniority
  • Problem-Solving: Creative thinking to overcome barriers to learning
What we offer:
  • A supportive, collaborative working environment
  • Opportunities for career progression and ongoing professional development
  • The chance to make a significant impact on the lives of students
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • A Refer a Friend scheme where you could earn a £300 Love2shop voucher (subject to terms and conditions)
