Job Description:

We are seeking an inspiring and organised SENCo to join our leadership team at a highly-regarded, IQM-awarded specialist school. Our school provides a highly personalised learning environment for students aged 6 to 19 with a range of complex needs, including PMLD, MLD, SLD, Autism, and ADHD.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support school management, including recruitment, training, and line management of support staff
  • Identify and manage high-quality training opportunities for classroom-based staff
  • Lead target-setting processes and use assessment data to track progress and secure high achievement across all key stages
  • Organise and implement a diverse, inclusive curriculum and assessment framework
  • Collate evidence for school self-evaluation and report to governance on school improvement plans

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Proven track record of creative teaching within a special needs environment
  • Experience in leadership (phase or inclusion) with a focus on raising standards
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and work collaboratively

Nice to have:

  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo/NPQ-SENCo) or a willingness to achieve this within 2 years
  • Experience with ASD intervention strategies (e.g., TEACCH)
  • Evidence of delivering inspirational professional development or mentoring
