The special education teacher will work under the direction of the Director of Special Education and Student Services. Work involves teaching subjects for students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade who have specific learning disabilities in the areas of reading, writing and math.
Job Responsibility:
Provide instruction and direction in both English and Spanish, consistent with the goals and methods of immersion curriculum
Develop appropriate methods for meeting educational objectives for each child
Provide differentiated instruction, based on the individual students’ ability levels and unique challenges
Participate in parent and teacher communications
Monitor student performance
Complete Special Education Due Process Paperwork, such as but not limited to IEP’s, PWN’s and Progress Reports
Requirements:
Requires Special Education Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Education
Must be fluent in English and Spanish
Experience working with students
Nice to have:
Training in the Responsive Classroom preferred
Taught as a Special Education Teacher in a Responsive Classroom setting
