Job Responsibility

Provide supervision of classroom instruction to students with disabilities in a safe, structured environment
Develop and review lesson plans that increase the level of student independence and academic achievement
Participate in student conferences with other stakeholders and provide meaningful input on each student’s progress, needs, and goals
Develops individualized lesson plans that support the students’ progress toward goals
Considers emotional, physical, and educational levels of development
Maintains accurate student and classroom records through data collection
Supervises paraprofessionals and models effective instructional practices
Instructs students, using evidence-based special education strategies and techniques to improve sensory and perceptual-motor development, language, cognition, and social-emotional development
Uses lessons that incorporate best practices, accommodations, and equipment that best meet the individual needs of students, including age-appropriate and functional curricula as needed
Provides consistent reinforcement to learning and continuous monitoring of progress

Arkansas teaching license required

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

Job Responsibility

Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students
Instructs students, using special education strategies and techniques

Creates learning materials and bulletin boards that foster motivation and learning
Works with students to increase motivation, provide consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level of functioning, and continuous feedback
Confers with parents, administrators, testing specialists, therapists, social worker, and others to develop individual educational program for each student
Incorporates and carries out student's behavior programs
Directs and maintains well-organized classroom routines and schedules
Completes required paperwork including evaluations, weekly/monthly data sheets, reports, quarterly evaluations, attendance, lesson plans, classroom schedules
Administers and scores standardized testing to evaluate and/or assess assigned students’ needs
