The Special Education Teacher delivers instruction and educational support services—including case management—to students with special needs. This role supports students’ academic, functional, and social growth through individualized strategies and inclusive practices. Ideal candidates will have experience working with diverse student populations and implementing personalized learning interventions.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and deliver instruction aligned with District-approved curriculum and student IEPs
Modify and adapt lessons to meet individual student needs and IEP goals
Provide direct instruction using varied strategies including individualization, co-teaching, team teaching, and hands-on methods
Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment appropriate to students’ developmental levels and learning styles
Collaborate regularly with general education teachers and support staff to address student needs
Participate in intervention and problem-solving teams to support early identification and targeted supports
Manage and maintain all components of students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of special education law (IDEA), due process, instructional strategies, and interventions for students with disabilities
Requirements:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with LBSI Endorsement
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Preferred – Two (2) years of experience working with diverse learners
