Job Description:

Position: 1.00 Special Education Teacher (K-6). Location: Finger Lakes Elementary School (FLES), Stanley, NY. Start Date: As soon as possible.

Job Responsibility:

  • Providing high-quality instruction to secondary students in a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, high-level of engagement and eagerness to continue to learn and grow
  • Working collaboratively with other teachers and community members to ensure continued learning of relevant skills and authentic application of those skills
  • Supporting students as they develop a strong work ethic, pride in their work and the foundational skills employers have identified
  • Willingness to develop/grow/promote the program to include all learners
  • Differentiating instruction to ensure all students experience success

Requirements:

  • Current NYS certification in Special Education K-6 or K-12
  • Broad skill set of effective teaching and learning to engage learners of all levels
  • Knowledge of the NYS Learning Standards and Assessments
  • Knowledge of curriculum content and accepted methods of instruction
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
