You'll work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to design and execute individualised learning plans (ILPs). This role isn't just about academics; it's about holistic development. You'll support students' emotional and social growth by using specialised tools like fidget toys and wobble cushions, and by creating personalised spaces that meet their unique sensory needs. You'll use a calm and respectful approach to address behavioural challenges, modeling positive behaviours and helping students build essential life skills.
Job Responsibility:
Collaborate on Individualised Plans: Work with a team of professionals to develop and implement learning plans tailored to each child
Facilitate Holistic Growth: Support academic, emotional, and social development, helping students build confidence and independence
Implement Adaptive Strategies: Use a variety of tools and techniques to create a supportive learning environment
Manage Behaviour with Empathy: Address challenging behaviours calmly and respectfully, while modeling positive conduct
Ensure Safety and Well-being: Maintain a structured and safe environment through vigilant supervision
Engage in Professional Development: Continuously refine your skills in behaviour management and special education practices
Requirements:
A minimum of a year of experience working with children in an educational or care setting, with a focus on SEMH, ASC, or similar needs
Relevant certifications such as an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Working with Children, or equivalent training
A proven ability to manage challenging behaviours effectively while fostering a positive atmosphere
Strong interpersonal skills to communicate clearly and empathetically with students, parents, and colleagues
The ability to tailor your support to the unique needs of each child
Basic ICT skills for documentation and communication
Additional training in areas like First Aid, Child Protection, or Team Teach is highly valued
