Job Description:

Are you a compassionate, patient, and dedicated individual passionate about supporting children with additional learning needs? GSL Education are seeking a motivated Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school community in Wareham with an immediate start. As a Special Education Needs TA, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to ensure every learner feels safe, valued, and able to access their education in a positive and nurturing environment. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in SEN, care, or support work who are eager to make a meaningful difference.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated lessons and activities
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, and learning engagement
  • Help create a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Follow EHCPs, care plans, and safeguarding procedures at all times

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is desirable
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting pupils with additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to support
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service
