To ensure, under the direction of the Head Teacher that students within the school with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) receive the appropriate support through taking responsibility for all systems and processes relating to the SEND code of practice.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure students with SEND receive appropriate support
Take responsibility for all systems and processes relating to the SEND code of practice
Support the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team in providing a clear vision for inclusion
Monitor interpretation of SEND policies
Deliver training to colleagues on SEND strategies
Support the production of a whole school inclusion development plan
Ensure the needs of individual students are met through a differentiated curriculum
Take ownership of the SEND register
Assist staff in the development and implementation of targets for individual students
Work with colleagues to produce detailed programs for students
Set up systems for identifying, assessing, tracking and reviewing students’ needs
Set up systems for immediate assessment of new arrivals
Liaise with partner primary/junior schools to aid transition
Arrange, attend and prepare materials for review meetings
Take ownership of the school’s access arrangements for examinations
Proactively identify students who qualify for additional support
Lead on the compilation of applications for EHC Plans
Line manage, organise, monitor and support the Support for Learning Team
Lead and manage the professional development for the Support for Learning Team
Effectively manage and deploy resources
Work with parents
Liaise with class teachers and pastoral staff
Liaise with other schools and outside agencies
Attend and contribute to leadership and governing body meetings
Cultivate strong links with local services
Requirements:
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of excellent learning and teaching
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the primary curriculum subject area
