Job SummaryAs an experienced Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer, you will leverage past experience and strong engineering fundamentals to solve our most challenging technical problems in collaboration with other engineers. You will review designs and test plans to validate planning and identify opportunities to reduce cost and risk. Additionally, you will create processes, standards, and engineering tools that are needed and train others in their use. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of emerging technologies for future mechanical designs at Millennium.
Job Responsibility:
Help set technical direction for the group and beyond
Identify and create essential processes, tools, standards, and design guides to build a knowledge-base and set best-practices
Support Responsible Engineering Authorities (REAs) as needed to solve technical challenges, identify solutions, and develop verification tests
Provide technical guidance to programs on an as-needed basis though activities such as attending design reviews and customer meetings, failure review and analysis, and trade study assessment
Audit internal programs and external suppliers to identify industry best practices and opportunities for improvement
Serve as a technical mentor for mid-career mechanical engineers
Requirements:
15+ years of technical experience in design and analysis of aerospace hardware
Adept with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5
Experience with spacecraft environments and testing, including random, sine, and acoustic vibration tests, and TVAC testing
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, knowledge of satellite hardware, qualification methods, and first principles understanding of all spacecraft sub-systems
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Clearance
Must be a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15
Nice to have:
Experience with any of the following: composites, bonded joints, dampers, additive manufacturing, shock or mechanisms
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
Active TS/SCI Clearance
