Job Description:

Must have a thorough knowledge of generators, transformers and AC and DC power. Must have a thorough knowledge of wire sizes and the capacity of each. Must be capable of properly setting up, and using electrical test equipment (i.e. voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, phase rotation meters and meggers). Must be capable of reading and interpreting blue prints and wiring diagrams. Must have the ability to conduct tests or checkpoints on completed work. Must have some leadership and supervisory abilities, and supervises small work groups as required. Must be able to determine material and man power requirements. Must have significant experience in marine electrical work. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits aboard ship and at the shipyard facility. Must demonstrate the ability to perform complex hook ups and installations on Navy shipboard equipment. Should have working knowledge of Navy Standard Items. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. Must demonstrate the proper use of hand tools and test equipment and knowledge of safety in relation to electrical circuits. Must demonstrate reliability in the performance of overtime and critical jobs. The level of proficiency and experience is determined by and at the discretion of the Electrical Manager. Must be aware of, and comply with the Company’s safety rules. May be assigned miscellaneous tasks outside craft as required. Must be able to meet the physical requirements and have the proper tools that are listed in the tool requirements.
