The Director of Spa leads the overall Spa operations, setting the strategic vision for wellbeing while ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, and team engagement. This role combines business acumen with inspirational leadership, balancing innovation, operational discipline, and talent development in a luxury hospitality environment. As a key member of the Hotel leadership team, the Director of Spa is responsible for defining the wellness identity of the property, driving innovation in treatments and services, and maintaining the highest standards of service, quality, and professionalism—true to Four Seasons values and The Golden Rule.
Job Responsibility
Lead and oversee all aspects of Spa and Sports & Recreation operations, ensuring consistent delivery of Four Seasons service standards
Drive financial performance through effective budgeting, cost control, revenue management, and achievement of monthly and annual targets
Develop and execute business plans, including annual budgets, forecasts, and performance strategies
Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning
Plan and implement structured training and development programs in collaboration with the Learning & Development team
Deliver exceptional guest experiences by maintaining high service standards, responding to feedback, and ensuring personalized service
Introduce innovative treatments, services, and products aligned with market trends and brand positioning
Maintain strong cross-department collaboration with Hotel leadership, Marketing, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Finance
Ensure effective communication flows across all levels of the Spa and Recreation teams
Oversee scheduling, rostering, and departmental administration to ensure operational efficiency
Monitor and maintain cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of all Spa and Recreation facilities
Ensure compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and Four Seasons policies and procedures
Monitor performance metrics, guest satisfaction, and market trends, implementing proactive improvements where needed
Manage inventory, procurement, and cost-effective use of all departmental assets and resources
Provide regular performance feedback, conduct appraisals, and support employee career development
Requirements
Proven experience as a Spa Director or senior spa/wellness leader in a luxury hotel or resort environment
Strong commercial mindset with expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management
In-depth knowledge of spa operations, wellness trends, treatments, and guest experience design
Inspirational leadership style with the ability to build, motivate, and retain high-performing teams
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for delivering exceptional guest service
Strong organisational and administrative capabilities, including planning and operational structure
Ability to drive innovation while maintaining operational consistency and brand standards
High attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment
Proficiency in relevant systems and technology used in spa operations
