The South Asian Language Father Support Worker is responsible for facilitating weekly evening and Saturday morning sessions such as Anger Awareness, Men in Relationships, and other curriculum based/drop-in programs. This position also plays a key role in developing trusting relationships with participants and collaborating closely with agency staff and community partners to support program success.
Job Responsibility
Facilitating Anger Awareness, Men in Relationships, and other drop-in groups (evening and Saturday mornings)
Providing individual support to clients
Communicating with supervisor and fellow staff on a regular basis
Facilitating small groups
Providing resource referrals and participation documentation to program participants
Creating and maintaining client files in CARF approved format
Providing other related duties as required
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Education, or a related field, OR an acceptable combination of education and/or experience
At least 1 year experience working with families or at-risk community members
Well developed written, verbal, and active listening skills
able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from a variety of backgrounds
Fluency in the Punjabi language—Reading and writing Punjabi
Well developed conflict resolution skills
Strong presentation and facilitation skills
Ability to work as a part of a team that includes staff and volunteers
Well developed time management and organizational skills
Strong computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office 365
The ability to interact with clients who are experiencing stressful family dynamics or crisis situations
Current Emergency First Aid/CPR level C certificate is a condition of employment
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Nice to have
Experience providing conflict resolution to clients is an asset
Experience facilitating groups is an asset
Experience working with clients in crisis is an asset
