PRN Sonographer position at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. Competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform procedures, ensures patient safety and comfort, maintains records, and communicates findings to physicians. Must provide age-appropriate care.
Job Responsibility:
Competently operates ultrasound equipment to perform general, vascular and/or cardiac procedures/studies
Reviews patient's medical record to obtain necessary clinical information
Positions patient and selects proper transducer and technical factors for accurate ultrasound procedures
Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate
Accurately identifies and labels images
Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system
Identifies equipment performance issues and evaluates new products
Analyzes sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician
Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
Requirements:
Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with Abdomen issued by ARDMS within 3 months
Medical Sonographer (RDMS) registration with OB/GYN issued by ARDMS within 3 months
Vascular Technologist (RVT) registration issued by ARDMS within 3 months, or Vascular Sonography (VS) registration issued by ARRT within 3 months, or Vascular Specialist (RVS) registration issued by CCI within 3 months
Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo issued by ARDMS within 18 months, or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration issued by CCI within 18 months
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by AHA within 6 months
Advanced training beyond High School that includes completion of an accredited or approved program in Sonography
Competency in all general and/or vascular sonographic procedures routinely performed in the hiring department
Ability to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings
Knowledge of aseptic techniques
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of and adherence to policies and protocols
Ability to prioritize, work independently and manage simultaneous assignments
Ability to be flexible in schedule and adaptable to change
Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. over the head
Ability to carry up to 40 lbs.
Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force
Ability to perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present
