Job Description:

PRN Sonographer Trainee position in Obstetrics/Gynecology. Scheduled hours would be during available time outside of her required courses and clinic hours for the FTCC Sonography Program.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment
  • Follows hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • Assumes responsibility for keeping informed about changes in policies and procedures
  • Participates in departmental in-service and educational offerings
  • Contributes to the overall quality of services
  • Performs or assists in performing quality ultrasound examinations in a timely and efficient manner while under the supervision and/or direction of a staff Sonographer
  • Schedules procedures and maintains appropriate records that contribute to the efficiency of department operations
  • Coordinates with other departments as needed
  • Assists with room preparation and restocking of rooms and other departmental storage areas with supplies necessary for patient care and procedures
  • Participates in educational activities to enhance patient care and quality of services provided
  • Ensures age/developmentally appropriate care is provided in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Current enrollment in an AMA or CMA accredited program in diagnostic ultrasound required
  • CPR certification through American Heart Associate or American Red Cross required
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level
  • Ability to work as part of a team, with physicians, co-workers and other members of the health care team
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and potentially stressful environment
  • Ability to accept constructive criticism and performance evaluation/feedback
