Job Responsibility

  • Performs diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures
  • Responsible for providing a wide range of highly technical diagnostic exams including but not limited to: abdominal, small parts, GYN, abdominal and peripheral vascular, portable exams and interventional procedures
  • Performs ultrasound imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
  • Adjusts equipment controls as needed in order to produce high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation
  • Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed
  • Prepares room and patient specific to the exam to be performed
  • Uses an established work pattern to work efficiently and safely within an ultrasound environment
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly
  • Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements
  • Adheres to safety policies

Requirements

  • BS degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related Associates Degree with a Certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Must be registered or registry eligible by the ARDMS
  • Non-registered sonographers must obtain ARDMS Abdominal and OB/GYN certifications within a year of hire
