Job Description

Provides routine technical support for a research lab or facility. Collects, analyzes, and processes laboratory samples or research data. Performs a variety of tests, using routine techniques and methods. Assists in report writing. Sets up equipment and materials for course instruction. Collaborates on the design of new projects, techniques or methods.

  • Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment
  • Prepares room and patient specific to exam
  • Uses an established work pattern to work efficiently and safely
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam
  • Maintains accurate patient record keeping
  • Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements
  • Adheres to safety policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in diagnostic medical sonography required
  • Associate's degree and certificate in diagnostic medical sonography required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registered or registry eligible by the ARDMS upon hire required
  • Non-registered sonographers must obtain ARDMS Abdominal and OB/GYN certifications within 1 year

  • Responsible for providing a wide range of highly technical diagnostic exams including but not limited to abdominal, small parts, GYN, abdominal and peripheral vascular, portable exams and interventional procedures
  • Completes training and receives regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior sonographer
  • Receives orientation to the Department's infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines
  • Is responsible for scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the US department with appropriate post US instructions
  • Performs ultrasound imaging and therapy in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization
  • Adjusts equipment controls as needed to produce high quality images and prepares/presents them, with other pertinent patient information, for timely interpretation
