Sonographer 1, Pediatric Cardiology

• Assists with routine and specialized echocardiographic studies, including transthoracic, stress echocardiographic techniques, transesophageal and contrast exams, with the goal of becoming independently capable of performing complete exams
• Obtains pertinent patient medical history to optimize the exam for appropriateness
• Prepares exam room and ultrasound equipment to perform cardiac ultrasound studies in accordance with universal precautions to insure patient safety per approved protocols, policies and procedures
• Obtains vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, height and weight
• Works with more senior sonographer to perform the necessary cardiac measurements to generate preliminary findings and image acquisition/storage to support the interpreting physician of the finalized diagnostic report
• Maintains active registry status in adult cardiac sonography (RDCS/RCS) through continuing professional educational credits
• Keeps lab and exam rooms in clean, working order, including cleaning ultrasound equipment and transducers according to lab policy

• Associate's degree required
• 2 years of experience in cardiac imaging or related field or successful completion of accredited cardiac echo sonographer training program required or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Working knowledge of cardiology, cardiovascular hemodynamics, doppler physics/instrumentation, cardiac and vascular ultrasound technologies required
• RDCS/RCS certification required
• RVT certification preferred
