Are you passionate about wine and eager to create unforgettable experiences for guests? We are seeking an exceptional Sommelier to join our team at our luxurious resort in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. As our Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in elevating our guests' dining experiences through your extensive wine knowledge and impeccable service.
Job Responsibility:
Curate and manage an extensive wine list that complements our resort's culinary offerings
Provide expert wine recommendations and pairings to enhance guests' dining experiences
Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for both guests and staff
Collaborate with the culinary team to create innovative food and wine pairing menus
Manage wine inventory, including ordering, stock rotation, and quality control
Train and mentor restaurant staff on wine knowledge and service standards
Stay abreast of global wine trends and emerging wine regions
Develop and maintain relationships with wine suppliers and producers
Ensure proper storage and serving of wines according to sommelier standards
Contribute to the creation of wine-focused events and promotions
Requirements:
Sommelier certification (WSET or equivalent) required
Proven experience as a Sommelier in a luxury hotel or fine dining restaurant
Extensive knowledge of wine regions, vintages, varietals, and current trends
Fluency in English
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage guests and share wine knowledge enthusiastically
Excellent palate and tasting ability
Proficiency in inventory management systems and wine cellar organisation
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing guest preferences
Strong analytical skills for wine list curation and inventory management
Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on wine industry developments
Detail-oriented approach to wine service and quality control
Nice to have:
Proficiency in Vietnamese or other languages is highly advantageous
Knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine and local flavour profiles for wine pairing is desirable
